First Love
By admin | November 16, 2009
When my oldest son was in Kindergarten all of the parents would wait outside of the doors for their kids to be brought out. You get a chance to see most of the kids leaving the school if your class happened to come out late. I noticed one girl with such dark circles under her eyes, that she looked as though she had been punched. Since I noticed her the first day, I kept looking for her, thinking that when the circles diminished–there would be a case for child abuse, or something. Well, day after day the circles were there. Dark as ever, and I just realized that this poor little girl was going to have them for the rest of her life.
Now skip forward from Kindergarten to third grade. Jake came home from school to announce that he was in love! I didn’t recognize her name, so he grabbed his 2nd grade yearbook—and lo and behold–he was in love with this little girl. Only—she was GORGEOUS! The dark circles had lightened, but were there just enough to attract your attention to her beautiful face and eyes. I was amazed! I laugh now to remember back to being so worried about her safety….and now, my boy is in love with her.
