26 Aug 2008 I’m Just Sayin’…

Ok, so we have our first “Big Gay Wedding”…now don’t go gettin’ all worked up on me, I was just makin’ a play on the Greek wedding title, you know, bein’ clever!! The major problem I have with the above wedding…couldn’t the bride and the bride have communicated the theme they each wanted for a wedding? You know, wear attire that actually looks like you’re going to be in the same wedding!

Come on…Portia is dressed for a “White Tie” wedding…and Ellen isn’t even wearing a tie. In fact, Ellen looks like she’s dressed for a summer dinner party. They are multi-millionaires…if you can’t get your “dreams” to mesh…just have two different soiree’s! Or 7, like Pamela Anderson…although didn’t she wear the same bikini to like 5 of the 7?

25 Aug 2008 Swap Meets & Designer Purses!!

Yesterday after church my in laws headed over to a big Flea Market/Swap Meet over on Roosevelt. We LOVE those things, but I haven’t been to one since we lived in Arizona and I was pregnant with Grayson! I asked my mother in law if there was anything fun there and found that they hadn’t purchased too much, but they had found designer bags. I’m not sure there were anyBriggs and Riley, but they definitely had my Burberry purses. How fun is that! When my mom comes in October, we’ll have to go see!

25 Aug 2008 Time To Try Again!!

If you’ve been keeping up at all with my Scalehopper blog (and no worries if you haven’t…it’s not real current) you will know that I purchased a new diet supplement online. I took it for awhile right before school got out, and I failed miserably. Why? Because instead of using Phentermine they have added caffeine to it. Normally not a big deal, but with me not having to get up at 7 to get the boys off to school, I would sleep in past my first dosage time…which would put my second dosage way too late in the afternoon for such a dosage of caffeine. I won’t even let myself have any after 2 pm, and even then sleep is questionable! Anyway…school starts up again on Wednesday, and I will be back to getting up at 7 to get the boys off, and I should be able to get back into the schedule of being far more productive, not only with my life, but with my fitness goals as well!

25 Aug 2008 Couple Plans!!

Last Veteran’s Day we had the opportunity to head to Las Vegas. It was mostly a “business” trip for me, but we had the whole weekend, and I was only working for one day. How fun it was to have my husband all to myself in the entertainment mecca of the west! We had such fun just being a couple again. I decided then that it was going to be a yearly tradition!

Now, however, I’m thinking it’s not going to be quite as feasible as it just happened to be last year. With property taxes and everything due soon, we may only be able to afford a hotel room in downtown Chicago (still fun) rather than one of the Disney cruises or a trip to Boston like I’d hoped! Hopefully someday we’ll be able to afford everything we need and want…but for now, a little trip downtown seems just as fun!

25 Aug 2008 Blond Moments!!

Do you ever have those moments when you do something that is so “off” yet you don’t notice that you’ve done it until someone points it out?? I totally hate my stupidity in times like these…and I especially hate it when someone has to point it out for me!

So then why was it such fun letting my mother in law know that she’d written her son’s birthday on the calendar as today instead of July 25th? Well, aside from the fact that he’s been her son, and has had the same birthday for 38 years…but also the fact that even though it was written wrong…the gift was given on the correct day–so it really wasn’t that bad at all! But…I did let her know that we would be expecting a new HDMI switch to go along with the home theater system we are pilfering from them!! Of course, we aren’t asking for a second gift, but it was fun to be on the giving end of it rather than the getting. I’m on that end way, WAY too often!

25 Aug 2008 Catching Up!!

My extended family has started getting into the world of blogging! Some have been doing it forever, some are just starting, but no matter how far along they are into it…it’s just a nice way to keep up with their lives. Especially because I live 1500 miles away. In the olden days, I would have been completely cut off from any of their lives, so this is really great for me! I just found out that a couple of my cousins are expecting or have just had babies. My Aunt is opening a small business franchise of my MOST FAVORITE store in the world! How fun it is to be able to catch up on their lives as often as I can. In fact…there is supposed to be a huge cardboard cut out of me at a family swim party going on right now!! You took care of that, right Mel??

25 Aug 2008 Three Year Olds!!

My kids are sitting at the dinner table behind me eating dinner, and it’s loud! We have a couple of Harry Potter PS2 games (OK, so they are just mine, but they watch me play) and so they have become quite knowledgeable about the spells. Barrett, my soon to be 4 year old, just yelled “Moco Damus” at his brother which made me laugh because if any of you are familiar with Harry Potter…you SO won’t recognize that spell! He was trying to say “Locomotomortis” which is a freezing spell—but Moco Damus is all he could get out! His other favorite spell is “Pendo” which really should be “Flipendo”, but his way totally rocks!

All of my kids have been different. When Jake was three, I have visions of him pulling my dad’s old golf bags around pretending he was hitting the links. My dad actually made him some clubs his own size and gave him his own bag…he was one of the few 3 year old’s with custom clubs.

That golfing 3 year old starts the 5th grade on Wednesday! I’m not sure I’m ready for that! It won’t be that long before my “Spell-casting” 3 year old is all grown up too!
