We headed to Jellystone a week ago Thursday. That evening we got a phone call from a nephew still in Chicago that had just been in a car accident. He was hit by a woman who failed to yield and made a right turn right in front of him while he was driving straight. She immediately started claiming that he hadn’t had his headlights on, he swears he did. The police man (a little lazy in my opinion) said without any other witness it was his word against hers and he had to ticket him for lack of headlights. Now here we are a week and a half later, insurance companies at a standstill and we just found out (from the niece who actually owns the car) that her car has auto headlights. Can they take this bit of info back to the police and have them change the accident report? Do they have to wait for a court date? They should probably call a Chicago accident attorney just to find out what their rights are. At the moment, my niece is in a rental car while the insurance companies are refusing to take care of her car while they argue over who’s really at fault. What a pain in the neck!
