If you’ve been reading over at my Kater-Bug Cakes blog, you will know that today is my puppy’s first birthday. So we made him a cake to share with Brownie, and a puppy shaped cake for the people to eat!

This is the cake for the dogs. It’s made with chicken and carrots and frosted with vanilla yogurt. The filling (yes, there’s filling) is vanilla yogurt mixed with wet puppy food.

Because the cake was for them, I let them lick the baby food jars clean–I have to say, they both loved this little venture into cooking! After I spooned everything into the cake pan, I had the batter on the rubber spatula and both dogs shared it–each licking their own side of the spatula. (Oh how I wish I’d gotten a picture of that!!)
