The Pinata!!

I think it’s funny to watch kids with a Pinata. They have this crazed look about them until that puppy is lying in pieces on the floor and they are kicking and scratching their way to the loot! Even watching my demure little girl with a bat in her hands ’swinging for the fences’ against the beast was too much. She was taking her task very seriously! With this pinata the kids had more fun dissecting it than opening it up. They got each of the legs off only to discover there was no food inside of them, so they moved to the trunk. Sadly once the trunk was removed the body dislodged from the head and fell with a thump on the ground—still unbroken. So there was a “Lord of the Flies” moment when everyone was ripping and tearing at pinata flesh trying to get it open. At then end, the biggest kids had shirt fulls of candy while the younger ones had one or two pieces. I made my “bigger boy” share his bag full of candy with his little brother and sister, Barrett had only one piece. My four kids escaped the melee completely unscathed which, considering the scene, was a small miracle in and of itself!
