28 Mar 2008 What A Day!!

Tomorrow is Grayson’s baptism. It will be done at our church just up the street from the house. Then we will trek everyone over to Elk Grove for dinner in the private dining room of my husbands restaurant. That sounds a bit ritzy, private dining room and all–but honestly, it’s about the same cost of cooking at home and it saves me the cooking and the cleaning. I’ve grown accustomed to showing up, eating, writing the check and heading home. This is when being married to a Chef (all the long hours alone, and crappy pay) really come in handy!!

The one thing I am doing is bringing the dessert. There are 30′ish people coming, and that means a lot of different desserts. I’m making…brownies, mint brownies, banana bread, pina colada cake, pineapple upside down cake, rice krispie treats, peanut butter cup cookies, a dump cake and possibly a sheet cake shaped like an eagle–ever the patriotic boy, that Grayson! On top of all of my fun baking…I have to run around the state trying to track down baptismal clothes. Normally our ward has them, but someone in the Spanish ward took them for their baptism and never returned them–total bummer! So I may have to run up to the temple (1 hour away) and purchase a baptismal jumpsuit. Either that or a trip to Joann’s to sew him one all night long! Nordstrom’s does have white pants—so we may go that route—all in all, it’s a lot more stress added to an already stressful time.

But hey, at least I’m not spending the day cooking for tomorrow!!
