This is the awards ceremony following the derby. I had to put it up—both of my boys are in it! Grayson (8 years old) took 3rd. Jacob (10 years old) took 1st. Notice the shy, blushing, grin on his face. He was jumping out of his skin waiting for her to call his name. I pulled him aside for a quick “gracious winner” moment. This is his final derby–and he’s retiring from the Cub circuit undefeated. Although, he now takes his car to Springfield to race in the district championships. I’ll keep you posted!!

Jake’s car also won “Judge’s Favorite” and Grayson won “Most Patriotic”.
