I sent my boys to bed an hour ago, and instead of listening they went up to my room to wrestle and play with their little brother. Fine as that would be–I do enjoy ‘happy sounds’–they did ignore me. So their punishment…I pulled them downstairs to clean up the family room. Now immediately they are wanting to go to bed–but I said no. They continued playing–so I’ve added the kitchen on to it as well. If they don’t get going I will be adding the entry way as well.
The oldest started a coup and headed up to bed–until I threatened his beloved “Club Penguin” membership. Now he is in the family room, cleaning with his brother murmuring under his breathe about what a horrible mother I am.
The last time we did this I threatened them with scrubbing toilets if I heard them again after they finally headed up to bed. I didn’t see them again that night, but truly felt like Joan Crawford in “Mommy Dearest”!
So they are dying to go to bed, and have about an hours work ahead of them–maybe I really am a bad mom!

I love the way you handled this. I never would have thought of taking this kind of action. I do have to say though that I will have to put this into practice. Thanks for the new tactics

I am so proud of you coming out of your shell like that. Being in a good ward helps too.
