Homage To Halloween–Jake!!
By Robyn | September 29, 2006
Well, we are coming up on my favorite time of the year!! So I thought I would post pictures of my kids in all of their Halloween costumes! Today were are celebrating Jake!!
With Jake having a November birthday, he was nearly one for his first Halloween. I made him a cute little Lion costume. We lived in Utah and it got frosty at Halloween time. This way I was sure he was snuggly warm, and still darling! The next Halloween we had moved to Phoenix, and didn’t know anyone–so we didn’t really go trick-r-treating. The next year his little brother had come along and took over the Lion costume, and Jake was Mickey Mouse. I sprayed his hair black and it was so neat to see him. He didn’t look at all like my baby! The next year he and Grayson were both Bumble Bees. They looked so cute, and their costumes were so easy. They were just yellow sweatshirts turned inside out so that they were fuzzy. It was the first Halloween after 9/11 and the anthrax scare. We were the only trick-r-treaters on the block. We just went up and down our street and their buckets were full. Since no one else was out, everyone just handed handfuls out at every house.
The next Halloween we had moved to Chicago. Jake started preschool and I made him a scarecrow costume out of his favorite overalls. So cute, and so cheap!! For Kindergarten he decided he wanted to be the Incredible Hulk. Not a fun costume, but he still looked darling! First Grade and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban brought out his “Dementor” side. And in second grade he had my favorite costume thus far! He was a big Jak III fan from PS2–not to be confused with Jak and Daxter or Jak II–it had to be Jak III. He had bright yellow hair and ears that stuck out a foot on either side! It really looked cool and it was a school favorite. A lot of planning went into it, but it was a very easy costume after all. Back to the trusty sweats! I’m a firm believer in using sweats so they have jammies after all is said and done!!
This year he has decided to be a Ninja! It will be the first costume for him that I haven’t made. I found an amazing costume on eBay that I could copy, but it came with all of the cool Ninja weapons and it was VERY inexpensive! So we will have to put those pictures up after Halloween!
