Homage To Halloween–Grayson!!
By Robyn | September 28, 2006
Ok, today it’s Grayson’s turn! He takes after his mom! Halloween is not only a favorite for him, but he also takes it very seriously! Jake let me choose his costumes until Kindergarten–yet Grayson has chosen his costumes every year since he was three. Remarkably he’s chosen costumes that I never would have thought of–and they turned out so cute on him. His first Halloween he used Jake’s old Lion costume. Just like Jake he was darling in it, although now that we were living in Arizona–it was more of a sweat suit for poor Graycie! The next year, right along side Jake, he was a Bumble Bee. Since Jake hadn’t had a second Halloween, there was no costume for Grayson to move into. But he was an adorable little bee. The third year he moved into Jake’s Mickey Mouse costume. But now, since we were in Chicago and not Phoenix, it was a little chilly. So on Halloween night he had to wear a black sweatshirt under his fur. The fourth year was his first Halloween choosing his costume. He wanted to be Harry Potter. What a fun costume to make! I purchased his scarf and glasses, but made everything else. I sprayed his hair black again, it makes such a dramatic difference with just the hair color. Everyone at school loved his costume. But he grew tired of the hair spray, so for his parade-he was a darling blonde Harry Potter!
His fourth year he decided that he wanted to be a Knight. We bought his armor, but then I used the good old Gray sweats and a large black t-shirt to make his tunic. It was my favorite costume for him thus far. He had his school parade the day I got out of the hospital after having Barrett. So Michael brought his costume to the hospital and we got Grayson all dressed up while they finished up my release paperwork. Then we went straight to his parade. When he was in Kindergarten he wanted to be Darth Vader, and it was my first costume for him that I didn’t make. He hated the mask, and ended up being just a cute blonde Darth Vader! This year he has chosen to be Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. I bought him a long black wig and a Jack Sparrow bandana off of eBay. So far, nothing else! His is the only costume I’m making this year–so there is still plenty of time to put it together!!
